So lasst mich scheinen (Schubert/Goethe)

Graham Johnson

For SongFest 2020 participant Sarah Marze.

Duration: 25 minutes

About:
Hosted by Graham Johnson, The Song of the Day series is a daily meditation on the many layers and complexities contained in a single song. Each song is dedicated to one or more performers who would have taken part in SongFest this summer.  Dedicatees were chosen in collaboration between our artistic Director Rosemary Ritter and the students.

Sarah Marze

Sarah Marze just finished her Freshman year studying Vocal Performance and Composition at the University of Connecticut. At UConn, Sarah studies voice with Dr. Constance Rock, studies composition with Dr. Kenneth Fuchs, and coaches with Allan Conway. She also studied voice with Louise Fauteux and Nancy Andersen at the Hartt School of Music. Some of the highlights of her performance career so far have been winning first place in CT’s NATS competition, singing at the Kennedy Center with the Washington National Opera Institute, performing in a masterclass with composer Ricky Ian Gordon, and singing her first solo with orchestra for her school’s annual Messiah (Handel) performance. This summer, Sarah is grateful to be named a Holster Scholar with UConn’s honors program. For this fellowship, she is writing a song cycle using poetry based on the Salem Witch Trials.
