First Came the Words - Victoria Browers
Exploring song texts apart from their musical settings
Duration: 45 minutes
About: In the spirit of bringing people together, this portion of the SongFest experience allows participants the opportunity to engage in deeper analysis of poetry within a variety of texts. As a means of finding the link between poet/composer and, ultimately, performer/audience, this talk explores ways to begin looking at poetry from the perspective of the poet and the individual poems as communicative language. It is my hope that through studying the union of poetry and music, we will more easily connect to our individual depth of artistry as storytellers, and in turn, find a deeper connection to our shared stories.
