About:
Javier Arrebola’s Northern Lights explores the largely unknown song repertoires of Finland, Sweden, and Norway. Unrest in the political climate of Northern Europe led to a fierce desire for national identity, and each country’s unique history has shaped its musical development, resulting in a body of work that is exquisite and honest. The song of the Nordic countries is filled with a deep appreciation of the natural landscape and an uninhibited expression of pure emotion. With two advanced degrees from the Sibelius Academy in Finland, Dr. Arrebola has spent a significant portion of his life and education studying this repertoire and experiencing the breath-taking beauty of these countries first-hand.
