A rave review for SongFest faculty Edwin Cahill & Matthew Patrick Morris, and alumni Jeremy Hirsch and Mikayla Sager!

SongFest would like to congratulate director Edwin Cahill and baritone/Masetto Matthew Patrick Morris as well as Leporello understudy/chorus Jeremy Hirsch and Zerlina understudy/chorus Mikayla Sager on their recent production of Don Giovanni in New York City. Opera News heralded the production as: "by far the most enjoyable and thought-provoking Don Giovanni New York has heard in many a year: Cahill’s concept proved multi-layered and insightful." And the Huffington Post declared: "one of the best Don Giovannis I have ever seen...Matthew Patrick Morris as Masetto has been making a name for himself not only in opera and recitals (I saw him recently at the Brooklyn Art Song Society) but also television and theater. His Masetto was perhaps the biggest revelation of the evening. Masetto can be funny! Who knew? In addition to lovely singing...Morris had the audience cavorting with laughter....kudos to Mr. Cahill...with a minimum of props, no set and a single change of costumes, he staged every scene with urgency, inventiveness and most importantly, a reverence for the music."
