SongFest is thrilled to announce that Javier Arrebola and Martha Guth have been appointed as Co-Artistic Directors at SongFest. Arrebola is both an alum of SongFest (’12) and has been on the SongFest faculty since 2015. Aside from his active performance schedule, scholarly research, and full time teaching positions, he has held or holds faculty positions at the Tanglewood Music Center, the Ravinia Festival’s Steans Music Institute (as Head of Piano Staff in the Program for Singers), and is the Artistic Associate for Renée Fleming’s SongStudio at Carnegie Hall. At SongFest he is also Director of the Piano Program. Guth has been on Faculty at SongFest since 2019 and is an Assistant Professor of Voice at Ithaca College. Aside from her active performance career where longtime recital partners include Graham Johnson and Erika Switzer, she is the Co-Director & Co-Founder of Sparks & Wiry Cries, and has held or holds guest faculty positions at Source Song, The Vocal Academy at the Collaborative Piano Institute, The Vancouver International Song Institute, and Opera Seme. At SongFest, she is also Director of the Composer Mentorship Program.
Dr’s Guth and Arrebola will continue to lend their expertise as faculty and lecturers at SongFest, but will now officially be working with faculty to curate special recitals and, under the continued leadership of SongFest Director Rosemary Ritter, help shape the overall structure of the program.
